Founded in 1859 Golden, Colorado is the county seat of Jefferson County and one of Colorado's oldest cities. We celebrated our 150th year in 2009. Golden came to life during the Pike's Peak Gold Rush era, and is the former territorial capital. Golden is 9 square miles of land lyingalong the eastern edge of the Front Range.

Golden is very community-oriented with festivals and parades, including the Christmas Parade, Buffalo Bill Days, 4th of July and much more.

Outdoor activities are abundant here with a large number of biking trails, kayaking, skiing, hiking, horseback riding along with Colorado's professional sports teams, the Denver Broncos, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Rockies, Colorado Mammoth, and the Colorado Rapids.

 The 2010 census estimated our population at 18.867, with 7,495 households and 3,913 families.

Our average family size is 2.85 and average household is 2.31.

The median age in Golden is 33, approximately 20% of our population is under the age of 18, with 16% ranging from 18 to 24, 33%  from25-44, 21% from 45-64 and 8% over the age of 65.
